Use every colour...

Over at Country View Crafts Challenges is a 'Magpie' day with a postcard theme. For mine I thought about my 'baby' Tom who starts Secondary school in September. I guess that doesn't really mean he's a baby anymore!
I started by cutting a large tag to size and stamping the Postcard stamp (Tim Holtz) and the  writing lines (Wendy Vecchi) as a base. The line stamp is incredibly useful for journalling as well as a whole host of other ideas!
I then stamped lots and lots of my most favourite Wendy Vecchi images onto tissue paper (and a jar onto Clearly for Art) and painted the reverse of the stamps and cut them out. The eagle eyed will spot I didn't have room on the finished postcard for the paintbrush at the bottom of the picture above! I stamped onto tissue paper so the finished postcard is very flat so I could post it easily if the recipient didn't live with me!
I used brighter Fresco paints so they would stand out and I cut a slit in the jar so I could feed the pencils and paintbrushes through so they looked like they were in the jar.
I hope you like my postcard - if you would like to see the other DT member's postcards, which are pretty fabulous, then dod pop over here!

Yonder

For this fortnight's DragonsDream Tag the theme is the letter Y and Transport - this had me scratching my head as I didn't really know what to do and then I remembered that to travel is to go 'yonder'!
I used my Tim Holtz travel stamps on tissue paper and used Fresco Finish paints to colour them. Then I had a lovely time trying to fit the jigsaw of images together! I included a plane, hot air balloon and motorbike to make sure I had the transport part of the theme covered!
Hope you'll join in with us - just make sure you include a stamp and a tag and your interpretation of the theme! If you need more inspiration - my team mates have created a really fabulous variety of ideas - why not pop over and see?

One

DragonsDream Tag It On has a new theme this fortnight set by the rather lovely Julie Ann Lee - The letter O and rust (as well as the obligatory tag and stamped image). I chose to use colours in the 'rust' palette as well as a faux rust technique on the number one. The stamps and masks are by Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi.
Please join us this fortnight and show us your rusty side!

Sensational

I really love words and often turn to quotations to act as inspiration and this Oscar Wilde quotation always makes me chuckle! The challenge at Country View Crafts Challenges this month is 'Word Play' and this is just perfect for me!
There are stamped Ellen Vargo images in the background and then very thin layers of paint over the top to make new colours and areas of interest. The images are from Lynne Perrella for PaperArtsy and I love mixing these images up to make new people. I love using individual letter stamps for each word, the act of stamping each one out gives me great pleasure as I watch each word form on the page!
Thank you for popping by - I hope you've joined in with us this month!

Home is where the heart is...

I love words, they often act as the springboard for my ideas and so I was thrilled when I saw we had 'Word Play' as a challenge at Country View Crafts Challenges this month. I took my moleskin journal and roughly drew some houses in pencil and then wrote, by hand, everything home means to me around the houses.
Then I coloured the houses in with Portfolio Pastels. I painted the background with watered down paint and revealed some of the writing in areas by wiping them with a baby wipe. I live at number 4 so I stamped a heart on that roof. I also added two Dylusions birds with funky hats.
I love these pages, as much for the personal message in the background as well as for the lovely bright houses in the foreground! I hope you'll join in with us this month!
